I'll send PMs to Amarok and Janaba to let them know we're setting things back into motion and request that the translations be complete within 2 weeks, or to let me know if that is too short a time. |
I did the translation already about a month or so, except for 6 sentences or something, because I saw there wasn't a serious hurry at the time. I'll finish the last bit ASAP now. |

I've created a Premiere Project file for Episode 4 and entered all of the dialogue in English. I haven't created opening/closing credits or subtitles yet. I'll add those then hand it over to Professor Askew if that's ok by him.
I have a question about one point in the dialogue. Dusante says, "Whoah! Oh my God.". And I'm wondering if we should replace "God" with "...". I personally detest being politically correct, but I can also see how some people might have a problem with this. Dusante, you're the utterer of the words... what do you think? What do others thing? _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

I'm not active here at all, but I don't think that we should be editing people's words here. A few examples of such language usage from the games:
From Sharper's '04 journal:
Quote: | 2.13.04 - My god, I may have killed him. Is this |
From Atrus at the end of Revelation:
Quote: | God, this is hard. It's as if a door inside me is closed, despite everything I've done to keep it open. |
So...
1: There's precedent within the games.
2: If we start editing what people are saying, we lose credibility.
3: It's a very minor offense if at all, and editing it lessens the impact of the event. |

I really have to finish that translation now...
The problem is... I'm still seeking everywhere for the best translation for "We carry on the spirit". I'm not dumb, I know what it means... I can translate. But I'm just seeking for the best translation, not literally, I know there has to be a special way of saying that in Dutch, but when you're looking for it, you can't find it anymore...
Maybe I'm just too much a perfectionist. |

This is something I generally agree with. And good catch on the precedents... it puts the little nagging voice in the corner of my brain at ease.

I sent it to you by PM about two weeks ago. Do I have to send it again by e-mail? |

Erik,
If it is not a problem, please do send a copy to me by e-mail.
I prefer all episode translations sent to me by e-mail because I may not always be the person entering them into the project, and I can't forward Private Messages to others. _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Amarok,
Please do not worry about it. We are still sorting out some staffing issues and have not begun filming yet. So, we are all "late". _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.

Team,
If I said I wanted to film half of this episode on Saturday March 24 or Sunday March 25, and complete the other half on March 3 or March 4, can we make it happen?
TODO:
- contact original event participants and get times (1 day)
-- For cast identification for Episode 4, see this thread: http://www.thegreattree.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?p=18179#18179
- compare against project calendar and our schedules; also check calendar for other events occuring in cavern; don't want to collide with those (1 day)
-- Guild of Greeters Calendar
-- Myst Online In-Game Events Calendar
- identify which neighborhood locations will be used for filming
- send out notice of filming times and locations to planned participants, D'net, and above calendars (1 day)
Is this reasonable or too short a notice or too fast? Let me know. I'm not saying we have to do the above plan, but I'd rather come up with something we can do, and do it... than keep putting it off.
I can manage primary filming and assembly on this episode, though I'm hoping to give some training to Malakh and at least one more person.
(Team = Primarily: Eleri, Mystlander, Malakh, and ghaelen - but can include anyone else who wants to be involved) _________________ Durin Mephit * Member of Guild of Messengers - Unless otherwise stated, opinions are mine only and not Guild endorsed.
