Wow great job guys, its looking great so far.

A couple of points however:

1: John Loftin was dead before the DRC formed.
2: When the GT logo fades and the Great Tree name appears the faded back logo becomes very pixelated.
3: the pixelated "dissolve" fade between scenes kinda lets it down a bit

aside from that good job.

Thanks, Tweek! I believe points 2 & 3 should be resolved tonight. As far as Loftin goes...it's really supposed to give the impression that the consolidated group effort began with Loftin even though the official formation of the DRC came after. We'll add your comment on this to the list of fixes and improvements for the DVD re-issue.

Tweek,

Thank you for the feedback!

Tweek wrote:

The specifics of Loftin's involvement were brought up already once many weeks ago (see earlier in this discussion thread). At that time, the script was revised to this:
Quote:
Twenty years ago, John Loftin discovered the cavern.
In the following months and years, he returned with friends...
... and together they convened what would become the D'ni Restoration Council.

During editing to compress this statement, the inaccuracy crept back in:
Quote:
Twenty years ago, John Loftin discovered the cavern.
Over time, he and others formed the D'ni Restoration Council

We need to keep the explanation very short... I'm open to suggestions on how this can be made more accurate IF it doesn't lengthen the text. Something along the lines of "He planted the seed that became the D'ni Restoration Council", or something like that.

We had some technical difficulties getting this episode ready for release on time. The GT logo is from an overcompressed copy. The ending credits in the QT version look bad, and in the WMV version, the grain film effect is washed out in the scenes where it is used. When we post the updated version (soon - I'm not committing to a deadline), all of these issues will be resolved.

shorah! everybody, Smile

i just signed up, although i never wanted this, cause this forum looks like a private conversation to me Wink
but now i am here and finalizing this "off topic" speech i can tell you, that i often read the threads and posts here,
i like the philosophy of "The Great Tree" and i like you all, too Razz

the reason, why i am posting here is a wonderful report, a drc thread of dr. watson, that our ireen posted
a few hours ago on the uo forum and if this report tells the truth, then this

Quote:
Twenty years ago, John Loftin discovered the cavern.
In the following months and years, he returned with friends...
... and together they convened what would become the D'ni Restoration Council.

and this
Quote:
Twenty years ago, John Loftin discovered the cavern.
Over time, he and others formed the D'ni Restoration Council

is totally counterfactual,

cause when "Branch" alias John Loftin left his body in 1991 there was not even the idea of anything like the DRC.
the whole initiative as i understood came from elias zandi, calling old friends, especially dr. watson, purchasing thousands of acres of land
surrounding the cavern area and so on...
then
"...Sadly, in 1996 my good friend Elias died of a massive heart attack. He left his fortune to the D'ni Restoration Foundation,
a nonprofit organization he had established. I was the chair of that foundation and executor of his estate. He left no money to his son,
but strangely, he left him the land in New Mexico.
I was somewhat overwhelmed by the responsibility that was thrust on me, and formed the D'ni Restoration Council in January of 1997
to create a group of people to help me oversee the restoration..."

i felt to mention this here, cause many people could read this and wonder...

so i would suggest anything like
"predeceasing the further restoration progress, Elias Zandi & Dr.Watson planted the seed that became the D'ni Restoration Council"
(in fact it was dr. watson, but planting seeds is ok for both i think; the problem is, that at this point newcomers don't know e.zandi and dr. watson...)

i'm sorry but for me it is not very easy to perform this into an english sentence short enough to satisfy your needs...

hope that i understood that all the right way. i don't want to make everything more complicated,
but heaving read this and comparing it with the underlines of the film... Confused

i wish you all a wonderful evening
in germany it has become very late now
see you

Welcome to The Great Tree, jana!

Yes, this "discrepancy" has been pointed out. However, for now we'll stand by our "facts" as presented...which are abbreviated to say the least. Loftin was involved in the creation of the DRC by association only...that is to say, his association with those people who physically created the organization.

In other words, don't lose any sleep over this. Laughing We may revisit this minor issue later on in the project...but for now, please indulge us.

and thank you very much for your care, professor askew; i slept very well,
although, after having written the above, i felt a little bit something like "OMG what have i done...",
and so i am very glad now that you don't mind and "stand by your "facts" as presented..." Wink

have a nice day everybody

Regarding the line after "Twenty years ago, John Loftin discovered the Cavern..."

I previously wrote:

I had a small eureka tonight.

"Over time, he and others formed the D'ni Restoration Council"

Can be replaced by:

"Today, the D'ni Restoration Council carries on his legacy."

This is now highly accurate, because it gives a hint that Loftin is no longer with us, and more importantly, wise men know that a legacy is not always what one wishes it to be. Twisted Evil

While requesting translations for the End Credits, I have also requested a translation for this replacement line.
