This sort of fits into D'ni Research, so I will begin here.

About a year ago I had the opportunity to read a book of short stories by Jorge Luis Borges. Probably his most popular story (which I haven't seen discussed much in the Myst community, if at all) was one titled "The Library of Babel" and was written in 1941.

The references and ideas from the story almost directly reflect the D'ni art, and it is my belief that it had a profound influence on the Millers in some way. I am almost positive they had the story at the forefront when digging up ideas for D'ni. All of the complications are there.

I'll post some quotes if all are interested, otherwise I would highly suggest checking it out at the nearest library. It's a good read, and alludes to the D'ni in a big way.

Cool. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Have you ever heard the Millers make a specific reference to it? Or is this based simply on what you read? Just curious.

I think it was referenced elsewhere, but I didn't hear of it until I read the story. The parallels are clever once you start understanding the story's concept.
