I don't understand the fancy computer math, but I'm glad others do so that I can benefit from their knowledge. Here's the updated sketch:

I think it is a sketch of the picture on the computer monitor.

Two things:

1) Where on Orkut did Stanley's clue get posted? On the MYST community, I only see 9 topics. I can't find any topics about MYST IV.

2) I don't understand how ? -> 10 -> 15 represents number bases.

But... hexidecimal is base 16, not base 15. I think Stan's clue was misleading.

Anyway, here's a better explanation of the puzzle. Each number appears in base 8, 10, or 16 in consecutive order. The original clue is

Quote:

124-72-45
106-73-4C-105-'83
4E-101-77-45
111-83
"41-116-68"

Now, look at http://www.asciitable.com/.

For every third entry starting with the first, use the Oct column to look up the letter.
For every third letter starting with the second, use the Dec column to look up the letter.
For every third entry starting with the third, use the Hx column to look up the letter.

Katie Postma started a separate community over at Orkut devoted to Gas Station Stan. It's called Stan's Station.

Not really all that much happening there, though.

Now, wait a minute....Hold on, Stanley. Everyone's gotten the Code Book. AND it's been translated. And I believe you know that. Hmmm....Are you saying there's something else to find over at Orkut? I looked everywhere at Stan's Station and found nothing. Should we keep looking? Or is there something hidden elsewhere on Orkut?

Curiouser and curiouser.

Using my translator, this is what I got:

Line
Temporary
A kind of food (actual word was ihkhah, but ihkhah nihjuhets was the closest match)
To charge/power (actual word was ihlays, but ihlaihs was the closest match)
Mineral (actual word was ihrvahn, but ihrvan was the closest match and often the "h" in "ah" combos are dropped)

Jaharen, the new image should fit better. It looks like a 4x4 grid, with each image 325x255 pixels (the exceptions being "oo" and "abd," which are 325x275--I added 20 pixels padding under "firstpiece" and "stana" to compensate), resulting in an overall image size of 1300x1020.
I've posted my version of the image: http://members.cox.net/mystfan/myst_fan/MystIV.htm.

I assume that they fit together as you have them, I'm just waiting for some connecting pieces. With the extra 20 pixels, I did notice that, but I don't see it as that big of a deal. I'm approaching this puzzle as I do any Myst puzzle, leave everything as it was until you're sure what it does. Obviously a few of the pics needed to be flipped around, but I figured I'd leave the images the size they are originally until I'm sure they need to be changed. It's just preference really. I don't see that big of a difference between our pics, just that you've gone the extra step to assume what's going to be next. I'm more of a wait-and-see kinda guy.

These are conspicuously alphebetically organized. I'm not the only person to have noticed that (see UruObsession thread). Remember my suggestion for the Great Tree puzzle using a dictionary? What is the next word we know of in the D'ni dictionary that follows these words, or, what word is in a dictionary under this letter that has been omitted?

I wasn't thinking straight when I did my translation, a friend turned up and I was showing her Uru and then I saw Stan's posting and was trying to explain to her about Stan's puzzles, and it all got kind of confusing lol
