I've been really surprised at people's reactions to Locke's death...I mean genuine sadness...almost as if we might not see him on the show anymore. This of course is a crazy idea as he's one of the main reasons people tune into that program...aside from great scripts and plenty of eye candy. We've got a lot more Locke coming if only in retrospect. And I can't wait. |

I think it was the assumption that, as the Island's new Chosen One, he *couldn't* die. _________________

Ah! I can see that. Although our only reason to believe he holds that title comes from Ben and you know how trustworthy he is. There's an interesting article about this very subject over at Doc Arzt's Blog. |

I'm getting a strange Harry Potter vibe after watching that.

That was a heapin' helpin' for sure. I'm finding it even more fun NOT to guess what's going to happen than the opposite. I'm really letting the writers take me for a ride....in a good way. So I no longer try to guess but rather ponder. I ponder Lost a great deal.
It's a subtle distinction. |

Yeah I know what you mean, prof.
I might be one step lower than ponder, at this point...
I mostly just watch it, blankly, often with a glass or 2 of wine, trying not to let my mind wander down the endless snake-y corridors that every new unanswered question might take me.
Don't get me wrong, it's wonderfully entertaining. I'm just starting to worry that I might not ever want any real answers.
It's interesting though, I don't know if that's because I'm worried they can't be as good as I hope at this point, or if I've been lulled into being accustomed to, no, even excited about that feeling of having no idea why what is unfolding on the screen is happening.

Now that's a very interesting perspective and way of perceiving and dealing
with whatever "happenings" in life, "off-topically" stated... |

I wouldn't worry, Brian. My gut is telling me that there are a certain number of plot devices that they've planned on from the beginning and that they're simply having fun making their way there. And now that they know when the show is ending it will make it all the easier to write toward those answers. For example, they've stated that they will answer two questions: 1) Why is Christian Shepherd wearing white shoes on the island? 2) What is the 4-toed statue all about. I don't think they're going to leave any unanswered questions by the end. They read the boards...the wiki....they know what people want to know.
And if they don't answer most of the questions by the end, well, we'll pool our money together and take out a contract on Darlton. |
