Some in the community want to see the GoMe pull together more and appear less as a set of disparate efforts. While I don't think the affiliates are going to suddenly become nameless minions of the GoMe system.... they are each invested in their own identites... but I think Rel.to could set an example to share the GoMe brand across the contributing affiliates.

I think the GoMess logo should crop up more in the community in general, especially if the site is linked to the GoMess in some way.

Personally I'm not interested in things being pulled together more, I'd just like to see a huge improvement in the GoMess site but that's just me.

If you want me to sling the GoMess logos onto the site design let me know.

http://labs.grey-skies.net/relto/ has the basic stylesheet switcher implimented (the other stylesheets are being coded) and I am overcoming some issues with dl values that for some reason wouldn't work the other day but decided to yesterday (I blame IE <.<)

Tweek,

Lynnutte likes the idea. Let's roll with it. Rel.to shall be "A service of the Guild of Messengers."

I will check your work in progress when I have time (hopefully tonight)

Let us celebrate this arrangement with the adding of chocolate to milk.

Thanks to a lot of hard work from Tweek and Erik... rel.to is now automated off of a database and looks absolutely fantastic.

Now that the heat is off, I can conspire with Erik and Tweek on improvements to Rel.to. Smile

First up: I need to add some additional fields to the database to track the days entries are added and last modified. That will come in handy later.
Cool

You mean just adding the fields and doing nothing with it for now, or do you want to use them right away?

Dates won't be stored in the typical fashion, but as a timestamp, so that won't be easy to edit manually. So it's better in my opinion to create a module to add/edit entries to the database first. (Doesn't have to be a cool module right from the start, we could also set something up quickly that works, and make a more user-friendly after that, while still having a way to add to the database.)

Just adding the fields, and doing nothing with them, for now. There are a few possible ideas for later though:
* Track the 10 latest entries
* Provide a "sort by date" option

I'm not sure which of the above two is a better idea... or maybe there's better ideas than those two.

I was looking at both DATETIME and TIMESTAMP and trying to figure out which was better. I was also trying to figure out why mySQL won't let two columns be declared TIMESTAMP and both have a default value of CURRENT_TIMESTAMP. There's some sort of limitation there.

I guess I need to read up more on it Smile

All I really care is that these fields get filled in automatically with "now" when I add a new entry, and it would be nice if the "modified" field would fill in automatically to the current time when I edit an exiting entry.

Didn't know there was an actual TIMESTAMP field and I never heard about CURRENT_TIMESTAMP before. (Probably because normally I let php take care of all those things)

A timestamp is just an amount of seconds, so that's something that can be handled just as easy by an integer (it's probably better).

Something like current_timestamp could be handy yes, but when it's eventually handled by the script, PHP could easily take care of that. It's not really the job of the database to perform such calculations I think... I'll read a bit about CURRENT_TIMESTAMP as well, perhaps it does work what you want.

EDIT: Looked some more info up regarding TIMESTAMP, and it just seems like overkill to me... I think it's much better to store just an integer and to let PHP take care of creating and interpreting these timestamps. That will make manually editing the database a bit more difficult, but that's only temporary.
