A pictorial reference to what places look like in the Cavern along with their names, location and history to the various places

The Common Library

Stained Glass Window - on both sides of the library

Library Interior

History

Completed in 233 DE during the reign of King Ailesh, who strongly supported a place where all citizens had access to Books called The Common Ages. The rich elite classes of D'ni also had their own Private Ages housed in their homes. (From the notes on King Ailesh).

In 4901 DE King Yableshan stated his plans for a new Common Library, located directly within the Vamen District of D'ni (a middle-class district).

In the Book of Atrus it locates a Common Library in the J'Taeri District.

From the document on King Kedri:

Quote:
Kedri donated his own Age of the Kings written during the reign of his grandfather, to the Common Library.

It's in the City. Once in the city there are two ways to get to it, either go through the Hall of the Kings towards a staircase that will lead to it (blocked staircase now cleared of rubble) or go via the broken bridge that now has a rope bridge across the gap and then just follow the path that will lead you to the library.

Great Zero Observation - DRC Notes on the Great Zero are also contained in this chamber.

Great Zero Calibrated - the blue beam goes right through and around the city

History

From the DRC's site : The Great Zero itself was usually based on a prominent natural landmark within an Age. From the Great Zero a line was drawn, usually toward magnetic North, to aid in navigation, construction, etc…(Note that the D’ni measurement and spatial system was based on a polar coordinates, rather than rectangular.)

As had always been the case with the Ronay, a group of surveyors was sent to D’ni, before the group officially moved there, to establish the Great Zero and the line emanating from it. A monument was built on the Great Zero in the year 0 DE.

Unlike, previous occasions, Ri’neref established the line of the Great Zero as set apart for holy buildings. Without authorization by the reigning King, construction was forbidden.

Though it’s never stated directly, records strongly imply that it was Ri’neref who chose where the city would be established. He seemed to base his decision on two factors (which probably made the decision an easy one). First was the line of the Great Zero. It seemed an obvious spot to base the city, with the most important religious structures being directly on the line and the rest of the city surrounding its center. The second factor was a group of waterfalls that flowed from the ceiling of the cavern to an area adjacent to the line of the Great Zero. The fresh flowing water was perfect for drinking.

it might also help to identify the pictures next to the 14 marker missions Very Happy

The Hall of Kings

There are various different ways of getting to the Hall of Kings, the two easiest ways to get there are to either use the Palace Alcove Link in your Nexus which takes you directly outside the Hall. Or use the link in your Nexus labelled 'Tokotah/Dakotah Alley', from that link go up the stairs, straight in front you should see another large staircase leading upwards, that will take you directly to the Hall of Kings.

If you haven't got any of these links in your nexus, you need to create them manually. Nexus Machines are located at: Tokotah/Dakotah Alley, Hall of Kings, Concert Hall Foyer and Library Courtyard. Step up to the machine and click on the KI symbol. Your hand will automatically go into the machine, like it does at the KI machine in Gahreesen.

For those intrerested in knowing the names of the 34 Kings, Jerle, Uru Moderator has made an excellent posting on the Uru Live website with the full of list of names, along with pictures of the Hall of Kings and the translated names:

Kahlo Pub Exterior

Kahlo Pub Interior

The site of much activity over previous months, this is the place where Douglas Sharper gathered people together to gain entrance to the Kahlo
Pub back in December of 2003.

Is this also the place where Veovis held his party after Ti'ana appeared before the Five Lords?

From the Book of Ti'ana:

Quote:
Veovis was ecstatic. That evening he threw a celebratory party at an inn down by the harbour. Aitrus, who had never found time to visit such places, tried hard to make his excuses, but Veovis would have none of it.

And so Aitrus found himself wedged into a corner of a huge dinning room packed with busy tables. while all about him a dozen young guildsmen - some familiar to him, others only 'faces' - dipped their goblets into the great central vat that rested at the table's center and drank to the young Lord's success.

To get to it, if your going up the Great Stairs from the Ferry Terminal link it is situated on the third landing, just beyond the barriers you will see on your left side. If coming down the Great Stairs then it will the first landing you come to.

The link to Kadish Gallery can be found in Kadish Tolesa by the first puzzle and also in Kadish's Vault

The Kadish Gallery link is located in Kadish Tolesa at the first Telescope device puzzle. Once the link is used, again it creates a permanent link in your brown book back on your Relto.

Kadish Gallery

From the DRC's Site - Started by Guild Master Kadish (Guild of Writers), the store was opened after his dismissal from the Guild of Writers. The store carried a number of outsider art pieces. The Kadish store is a mix-match of artifacts collected from both D’ni artisans as well as outsider artisans before the Fall.

Main area at the bottom of the Great Stairs

Ferry Terminal

From the document on King Emen:

Quote:
In 5202 a public ferry system was approved by Emen, offering much more frequent access between The Island, the city proper, and the surrounding smaller islands.

From the Book of Atrus:

Quote:
Directly ahead of them massive walls of cracked white marble were arranged in three tiers, like giant steps above the harbour.

At intervals along the front, a number of massive statues - each one several times the size of a man - had once stood, facing the arch, but only two were standing now, and even they were cracked and damaged. The rest had been toppled from their pedestals and now lay, either in pieces on the marbled flagstones or on the floor of the harbour itself, broken limbs the size of pillars protuding from the glowing surface.

The Lake

The water within the lake contains plankton which has a thirty-hour cycle corresponding with that of the D'ni, thus giving them night and day down in the Cavern as it changes from dark black to an orange kind of light.*

When Veovis and A'Gaeris released the poisoned gas through the air vents into the Cavern it all but nearly killed the plankton off shrouding the Cavern in total darkness. Twenty-two days after the Fall Aitrus and Anna returned to the Cavern to find the great fans had been reactivated bringing fresh air back into the Cavern and the plankton recovering enough to give of a faint twlight glow.*

*From the Book of Atrus and the Book of Ti'ana
