Wednesday, July 11th, is the 263rd Anniversary of the Fall of D'ni. Last night a few of us from the D'ni Linguistic Fellowship--myself, ireen, & Owehn (and a fellow named ABguy)--were discussing ideas for commemorating it in Uru. The Great Tree has always been passionate about getting the Explorers involved, so I thought I'd ask for help here Smile

As there's not too much action in Uru in between Episodes, I really want to get activities going during the mean-time. And I especially want to hype the Fall of D'ni, 'cause it's just about the most important D'ni occasion, and to get people more interested in D'ni History.

We were thinking of doing some kind of Memorial-type event (as the Fall isn't quite the type of occasion for a Party Wink

). At the start of the various chapters/sections of the Book of Ti'ana, there's a number of excerpts from "Rekorokh Jimah", several of which refer to the Fall. And several verses from "Words" do as well. We thought we could recite a few of those amongst a short summary of the events of the Fall.

ireen had the cool idea to tie in the whole thing w/the Er'cana Algae-Pellets. The Plague killed much of the Algae, darkening the Cavern. And now during this last Episode of Uru, "A New Light", we've been asked to cook up Pellets to restore the Cavern to its former brightness.

We also thought it would be cool to broadcast strictly Myst/Uru/D'ni music over ShoutCast or TeamSpeak. Kind of like they do at the various parties, but MUD music wouldn't sound "partyish", and would give it a nice atmosphere. We're looking for someone who runs a SC/TS channel in Uru. I was told that TGT has a TeamSpeak channel used in Uru--could we possibly utilize it for this event?

A few other ideas we had out there were things like a moment of silence, a theatrical-reenactment, etc. I'd love to do some kind of "firemarble vigil" if we had more customizable 'hoods Wink

So, who'd like to get involved? What are your ideas? Would The Great Tree like to "host" it in their 'Hood? We're also looking at getting the CAT, DLF, & SoDK, involved as well.

Please post ASAP--The Anniversary of the Fall of D'ni is on Wednesday of next week. I want this event planned & ready to announce on the various Web-Boards & In-Cavern soon, even by Thursday or Friday if possible Smile

I think TGT channel was actually Ashtar's thing....

I know that Eleri used to run Radio Free D'ni... maybe you can ping her for music streaming.

I personally think it'd be a great thing for TGT to have in our hood. What do the rest of ya say?

That does sound cool and I'd enjoy participating, but I think I'm going to be busy on the 11th. :/ I like the idea of a surge of pellet-production to commemorate. Maybe you could spread around a good recipe for people to use, or invite people to a special ceremony to drop an especially good pellet or series of pellets, if it's possible to share the Uran book..

Join me at the D'ni Harbor at 7:00 PM Cavern-Time (6 Pacific, 7 Mountain, 8 Central, 9 Eastern...) for a short Memorial Ceremony Smile
