Couple things...
Is this going to be a community-wide thing, or a more personal-invite thing?
How does Aug 17-19 sound? _________________

Good question. Which non-Great-Tree-postin' people are in the area? It'd be more personal (and to me, more personal usually means more fun) to just invite our forumers but it'd be interesting to see who showed up from a general invitation. _________________ ~Moiety Jean

No reason we couldn't have a general get together. I'm in favor of that. Then what people retire to afterward is their own business. _________________ .yahvo kehnehn taigahntahv .taigahntahv bihv

Zardoz is in the area, so is Kierra and Kedri. Oscy and 'nat are in Spokane now, there's Uruvians in Oregon, too.
I also looked more into the hotel, and instead of room blocks, you get your group signed up, and they have a special event rate. I'll see about getting that arranged this week _________________

hotel stuff. What they do is a "Special Occasion Rate" rather then booking room blocks You call, say you're with an event, and ask what special occasion room rates are available:
PREMIER GUESTROOM at UNIVERSITY INN
Our largest room comes with a choice of a king or queen size bed, table with 2 chairs and sofa pull out bed, microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer, iron/ironing board, and in-room coffee maker. Complimentary hot breakfast delivered to the room.
Single $150.00 Double $160.00
DELUXE GUESTROOM at UNIVERSITY INN
The deluxe room comes with a choice of one king or two queen size beds, an additional vanity area with sink, a refrigerator and microwave, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, and in-room coffee maker.
Single $134.00 Double $144.00
TRADITIONAL GUESTROOM at UNIVERSITY INN
Our traditional room is our most economical choice. This room comes with a choice of one or two queen size beds, iron/ ironing board, in-room coffee maker and some rooms have balconies. Our traditional rooms feature bathrooms with showers instead of full size tubs.
Single $114.00 Double $124.00
These prices *include* access to a shuttle, which can take 6 people at a time to area attractions. That makes doing the tourist thing much easier. Plus breakfast bar, afternoon snack, pool & spa, wireless internet.
Should I look into a meeting room, too? _________________

Yes we are doing this, no, I don't have the form ready. I should have it done after I get back from my trip. _________________

The weather has been spectacular and I'm more and more eager to share beautiful Seattle with out-of-towners and have some fun with a group.
Is there anything I can do to help plan and encourage attendance?
Woodland Park and it's zoo, gorgeous rose gardens (Eder Seattle, seriously!), and sprawling park with old stone bridges and giant trees are all right near us and not far from the University district. I'd love to plan a picnic or some outdoor walking/exploration around there. The park has barbeque grills, tennis courts, and horseshoe pits as well as lots of room for frisbee. We have a zoo membership that allows us to bring up to five guests at a time in for half price (making it about $7.50 per person). The Rose gardens and parks are free and well-worth visiting. Gasworks park is a short drive from here also and the massive, rusting structures there are reminiscent of Riven.
I can suggest a list of MREDU-style places to visit if we want to do some communal geeking-out. ^_^ _________________ ~Moiety Jean
