Hey gang.

I've been having a quirky thing posting to the forums with Firefox. It happens when I'm writing a post... when i hit the "Enter" key for a line break, Firefox crashes on me... ever since the latest Firefox upgrade.

It all works just fine if I use the IETab extension and render the forums with IE in Firefox... but it I use Firefox alone, crash and burn as I hit Enter.

Anyone else plagued by this? Or is it just me?

Oh, and just for fun, i've attached a Poll...

I use Firefox for everything but The Great Tree and the DRC Forums. For some reason no matter how much I play with the security settings, Firefox won't let me log in either place. Netscape hasn't worked right for me since the newest version came out, so I've been using Internet Explorer on those two forums. It's kind of annoying to have to switch browsers to view some sites, but oh well.

Try launching FireFox in "Safe mode" (if on 2.x, there's a menu option where it's installed to do that) and let it disable all your add-ons. One could be conflicting since the upgrade.

Try browsing in safe mode. Does the site work?
Go back to normal mode. Does the site work?

If so, try re-enabling the add-ons one by one.

I use FireFox as well and I haven't had any problems. As a matter of fact, I tend to have fewer problems with various fora. I don't have the enter problem...and I think have the newest update - they do it automatically, so I guess I do. I have the IE browser tab thing - mostly b/c I can't view some of the art gallery sites I like to frequent on FF...nor CMT music videos... Embarassed

Good idea Marten! Yes, do try that! And let us know what works! If all else fails, I'd be tempted to contact Mozilla and let them know of the problems you're having. If they want to keep your business, they'll fix it. Wink

Also Firefox with no problems.

Annacat, do you accidentally have cookies blocked from these sites? I've done that before.

Internet Explorer 7. Terrible. Any page that involves running Flash Player freezes the browser when I close the browser window. I don't know if this is a problem with Flash player or IE. What's more, if I have multiple IE windows open, they are all closed after I ctrl+alt+delete to close the frozen window. I've lost many a forum post that way. Sad

At home I use Firefox on a Mac Powerbook with no problems other than some minor page rendering variations. Colors, font sizes that kind of thing.

At work I'm now able to use Firefox because a co-worker showed me how to make the proxy settings that the system admin wouldn't tell me. Smile No problems there. IE crashed regularly, and it's slow. Firefox only crashes occasionally, but unpredictably.

All Great Tree'ers are genetically programmed to rebel. Douglas Sharper did it when he went back in time to fight the Dinosaurs.
