I'm starting this thread since I've starting some work on Episode 7's script. If nobody objects I'll keep going on it, or I can pass the script off to anyone who had their heart set on it. But I'm fine to handle the writing if no one else had already claimed it. Smile

I have a strong interest in this episode (everybody does probably) but I see no reason why you can't get the ball rolling. Actually, I'm just as interested in the filming of this episode as the writing. This is a big one and we all may have our two cents to add. But, have at it and enjoy.

Yeah, I think the film direction will be just as crucial to this episode as the script. It's a very action-packed and emotionally charged piece of work, and the filming and editing will play a huge part in getting that across.

I'm gonna stay out of it, as I don't think I could do this part of the story justice! Have fun you two (or more), I can't wait till we get to this point in the filming...

This one IS going to be a very difficult episode, because it calls for many actions the avatars simply are not capable of. We'll need clever direction to help imply those actions. I'll go far on this episode but I will need help with it, and I'll call for input, both on what I'm doing with the script and what was going on/what was visible in the historical event.

MJ,

Can you elaborate on what the avatars can't do, that the episode requires?

Somehow, the avatars must be able to do these things... because they were done, once!

They weren't done, they were implied by dialogue. The DRC first takes Phil's Relto book, and then they grab his hand and put it on another linking panel. This is what I"m getting from the read. If you're processing it differently, please let me know. I'm not sure how many people actually could see the action going on, and how much of it was just heard.

We could have the action off camera, and focus on the reaction of the crowd...

I think we need an extended fight scene on the rickety old bridge.

phend: "I know something you do not know... I'm not left handed!"
Laxman: "I know something you don't know... I'm not left handed either!"
Kodama: "I know kung-fu..."

There is also a lot of shouting from the explorers, I think you should focus on that crowd. And you can shoot the bridge from a distance, e.g. from the balcony on the courtyard wich looks over the canyon. Then, you can't see what they are doing, but you can see the characters. You can let them do the talk animation or something, so that you can see they're moving.
Though, high antisotroping is required, otherwise the characters are too blurred.

While I'm waiting for some more input on episode 5, I thought I'd jump back into Episode 7's writing.

And look! The emote element has been solved for us. LOL!
There are now many emotes we can use to portray the tension of the situation. If we film any episodes on UU before they shut down, this might be a good one to consider, provided no other option for custom avatars is opened to us through Professor's valiant efforts.

First draft..

Missing some titles and other scripty stuff, and still needs some of the philosophical discussion weeded out so it doesn't get dull and long. We must leave Sharper's "Who brought Aristotle and Plato out?" line in there. LOL

What do you think of the scripted shots, Marten? Do they seem doable?

I've tried to pepper in emotes often but not allow them to look overused or silly. I'm working from memory of how they look so we'll need to use judgement as we film to see if they'll work

Alright, I've asked Ashtar to turn off the bridge on the now unlikely to be renamed GT shard.

I can film part of the kidnapping scene with a lot of camera switching. To get new emotes on Phil and Sharper, I'll need to use a camera angle that only shows them and neither the bridge nor DRC peeps, on Uru Live.

I would like to get some shots with the camera behind Phil and Sharper, showing Watson and Laxman approaching. For that, I'll need two volunteers on the Great Tree shard, at the same time tomorrow (Sunday). Anyone who is available and interested, please follow this post with the time you can participate.

Thanks!

I can be there whenever you need me, Marten. Although you know I tend to be a bit springy on camera.
