I lost my Grandfather too recently... so I have some idea of how you're feeling. You have my sincerest sympathies, Saxy.

CuzinKim and I will keep you and your family in our thoughts.

Sad

I lost my grandfather a few years back as well. If you need to talk (and I'm sure I speak for most of the GT), feel free to pm me here or in the cavern and I'll do my best to be a good listener and such.

That sucks, sorry to hear it Saxy. Losing grandparents seems to be a common thing these days, I've lost a couple of mine in the last year or so as well. It's never fun.

Praying for you and yer family!

Thank you for all the warm fuzzies, everyone. I really appreciate it. :) I may take up a few offers to vent about it if it continues to eat at me for the rest of the week. Sounds like most of you know what I'm going through.

Can't say we didn't. My grandpa has been sick with cancer for the past ten years. He was a really heavy smoker and his lungs collapsed a few years ago. His condition has been worsening for a long time now.

I guess it's just extra-tough for me because he's the first family member whose loss I've had to experience. Since he has always lived on the east coast I haven't been able to see him very often, but the few times I've been able to see him have meant a lot to me. He took me on a three-week tour of New York, Boston, Washington DC, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut in 2001 and he came out to visit my family in 2004. (I'm so glad he got to meet Kevin; he gave us his blessings, which was touching.)

Oh, just found this pic:

(Wasn't I a cute kid? :D )

Okay, sorry for being a downer. Ending this post on a positive note: winning the lottery, cute kitties, and hanging out with great friends at Mysterium!!!

Sorry about your grandfather. Sad

No need to be sorry for being a 'downer'. Friends are around for the bad and the good.

It was the same with me when my grandpa passed on a few years back it certainly throws you. But it seems like you have some great memories to honour him with, and thats what is important.

(And my gosh but you were a cyooot kid, you seemed to have mastered the art of posing for the camera at a young age Razz )

I was really tiny when my grandfather died, I wasn't quite acquainted with the concept of death yet.

When I was a few years older, my cat got sick and had to be put down and I cried for an entire evening. During the course of that evening I turned to my mom, looking vaguely off into the distance, and uttered, "Now I know what it feels like to lose somebody you love."

My mom just broke down crying.
