Right now, Kyven, I can tell you that I played Second Life for a week or two after Live ended. I found the place very cool and very strange. It's not a game, it's what it's called...a Second Life.

It's a big place....and you get to build things. The people were friendly. It was just strange. Hard to explain. SL was pretty new back then so there weren't a lot of people logged on late at night and the place was huge so you could really travel over great distances w/o seeing people. Also, there was definitely a Mature atmosphere about the place. You could fly over a house (yes, you can fly) and you might see two people making out by the pool. I think I remember passing some kind of photo shoot with bikini girls. And I actually went to a strip club. They actually played real music and what comes off depends on how much you spend. Like I said, strange place. In addition to having the ability to build things using their script language, you can run your own business. But, there's no story or objective. It's just a place to be. Kind of like UU! Wink

I played Star Wars Galaxies for awhile...as did Farlesis...it was a fascinating place to be but ultimately required too much of my time. The whole leveling up is really a drag as far as I'm concerned. I thought the graphics were great but I found it next to impossible to follow any storyline and I found that most people were generally hanging around in large groups trying to sell stuff. The game requires too much money and time to learn your chosen professions.

I'm very curious about Matrix Online which debuts next month. I don't care about shooting people and I care even less about wire-fu. What I am curious about is the city. The city is large and supposedly you'll have the ability to explore every room in every building. That could keep you busy right there. And if it's possible to be involved in the game w/o constant killing I just may check it out.

And recently I learned that Star Trek Online will debut in 2006. This has the chance of being the next best thing to Uru if they stay true to the Star Trek mythos...meaning it shouldn't be all about killing people. Sounds interesting. There will be planet missions, ship missions, and they will be making liberal use of the Holodeck. There will be small ships and starships with crews in the hundreds. startrek.com has a FAQ all about it. So, that's something to look into down the road.

Right now I'm playing Scrapland. It's gorgeous to look at but as I predicted, I stink at some of the more physical things. Some guy has me racing my ship against some other bozo and I just can't beat him. And it seems I can't move on until I do. Oh, well, practice makes perfect. But the graphics are awesome.

Second Life sounds interesting. Like you say Professor while 'Star Wars Galaxies' is a cool game, the levelling up does take a heck of a long time and to move up in one profession like scouting that I did just takes up so much time. Matrix Online does look intriguing, but I'm not holding my breath. Star Trek Online I might just give a go when it comes out in 2006.

I'm currently waiting for 'Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2' which is finally released here in the UK this week, after playing the first one I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this new one. Scrapland as well is released some time this month as well over here, I'll be takig a look at that Smile

I haven't played that one. I watched someone play There, which was amusing, but I personally wouldn't have gotten into it. Very Happy

Why do I suddenly want to dig out The Sims? (not the online version)

right now, I'm thinking if you dye a round car filter, get a halogen lamp, and put some speakers in there, you could have a barebones Riven (or To D'ni (TM) ) music player... Idea

I want the lamp as well.
