Right now,

A number of community members are unhappy with Cyan's handling of its own moderators at the Myst Online forums. This has been an ongoing issue for years, and the recent uproar seems to have occurred because of a disagreement between Cyan's interns (amonre and Tweek) and the designated moderators.

The interns also had moderator powers on the forum as part of their admin capabilities, but they were not moderating... yet as a result of the disagreement, the interns had their admin powers removed. And the real source of the problem is one moderator who has a poor understanding of the English language and who really should not be moderating forums in English. (And some feel shouldn't be moderating at all.)

Right now thanks, Marten, for this brief and clear explanation of the
situation... That's how I perceived it also after reading through some stuff...

What I was asking myself is "IS CYAN actually handling moderator issues
and are they designating them?" If so, they of course have to act accountably
and adequately... They cannot leave the community and the other mods
alone with that... I mean, if this is going on for years and there seem to
be many more concerned about some issues and handlings etc. etc...
Is it really worth the consequences?... Ok, just saying... Razz

Edit: I just found my questions been answered through RAWA's recent post... Very Happy

Right now, RAWA's post is not enough. No action is taken whatsoever...

Right now, instead of telling the community to read the rules they should also tell some of their moderators to do the same.

Let me see if this is correct: There's yet another flare up over Veralun's moderating (Brought to light by Whilyam), issue is brought to Cyan, Cyan decides to revoke the interns administrative control and says that it's something they never meant to give them in the first place (interesting they chose this time to act on it...), Veralun is still moderator, Tweek steps down.

Sunrise Sunset.

I did feel somewhat insulted by RAWA's reminder to read the forum rules.

Been there, done that. The problem is that the forum rules are not enforced in a consistent, sensible manner. That is not a user problem, that is an admin problem.

Right now, I'm wondering why the Great Tree 'hood never shows up on the 'hood list. Is it a private neighborhood, or are the other neighborhoods just visited more often?

Right now, I'm hoping that Cyan can solve the moderation issue. The last thing we all need is an upset between Cyan and the community.

The other neighborhoods are visited more. Sad To keep it on the list, someone from the Tree needs to log in once every now and then and toggle it private/public to put it back on the list. That, or attract a crowd and keep it there, which will keep it on the list longer too.

Right now I have to say that I link into our hood almost every day
whenever I log into the cavern for pellet baking, keeping everything
in order as documented in the Neighborhood forum or for whatever
reason... (have to toggle it additionally in the future it seems)... Very Happy

Right now I'm wishing everybody on The Great Tree, at Cyan and
our whole community a very exciting, magical and blessed

Right now, it's already Easter?! Shocked

Right now, could someone let me join the Great Tree 'hood at some point? I'd try to keep it on the list! And keep the lanterns on green.

OHB (orangehairedboy) wrote a program that operates a player character in Myst Online. It can apparently navigate back and forth between Bevins using the Nexus, and responds to queries and commands prefaced with its name, "OHBot".

Right now (and last week), it has resulted in some controversy.
