Right now...

All of you with pets, be they cat, dog, bird, reptile, rodent or rock, please give them a little extra love today... no, every day, but today especially.

I'm grieving the rather sudden putting down of my parents' dog, Daisy. She had been the 'family' dog for many years. A big ol' happy-go-lucky chocolate lab. What the family thought was arthritis in her hips turned out to be a sizable liver tumor that spread to her spine. When Daisy suddenly lost all control of her hind end, Mom and Dad made the tough choice to end Daisy's pain.

I found this "open letter" quite by accident while looking for a different platitude regarding the loss of a pet, but it moved me greatly. It has forever changed the way I see my own dog.

Love your pets all the more while you have them.

Quote:

Dear human:

I am your dog, and I have a little something I'd like to whisper in your
ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some
have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and
there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things
in life. Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See
the way my dark brown eyes look at yours? They are slightly cloudy now.
That comes with age. The gray hairs are beginning to ring my soft
muzzle.

You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine? Do
you see a spirit? A soul inside, who loves you as no other could in the
world? A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing
for just a simple moment of your time? That is all I ask. To slow down,
if even for a few minutes to be with me. So many times you have been
saddened by the words you read on that screen, of others of my kind,
passing. Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly, sometimes so suddenly
it wrenches your heart out of your throat. Sometimes, we age so slowly
before your eyes that you may not even seem to know until the very end,
when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and cataract clouded eyes.
Still the love is always there, even when we must take that long sleep,
to run free in a distant land.

I may not be here tomorrow; I may not be here next week. Someday you
will shed the water from your eyes, that humans have when deep grief
fills their souls, and you will be angry at yourself that you did not
have just "One more day" with me. Because I love you so, your sorrow
touches my spirit and grieves me. We have NOW, together. So come, sit
down here next to me on the floor, and look deep into my eyes. What do
you see? If you look hard and deep enough we will talk, you and I, heart
to heart. Come to me not as "alpha" or as "trainer" or even "Mom or
Dad," come to me as a living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep
into one another's eyes, and talk.

I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a tennis ball, or I
may tell you something profound about myself, or even life in general.
You decided to have me in your life because you wanted a soul to share
such things with. Someone very different from you, and here I am. I am a
dog, but I am alive. I feel emotion, I feel physical senses, and I can
revel in the differences of our spirits and souls. I do not think of you
as a "Dog on two feet" -- I know what you are. You are human, in all
your quirkiness, and I love you still.

Now, come sit with me, on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow
down if only for 15 minutes. Look deep into my eyes, and whisper to my
ears. Speak with your heart, with your joy and I will know your true
self. We may not have tomorrow, and life is oh so very short.

--Love, (on behalf of canines everywhere)

Wow!!! Dear beloved CJ, first of all BIG BIG HUGS from a friend in Germany…

I'm so sorry for your loss and the loss for your Mom and Dad, CJ… At the same time as it
lacerates my heart, the way you're providing this to us in your special oh, so lovely, open
and heart-rending way, it also rejoices as of the awakening aspect or better the extended
awareness and appreciation coming along with such an 'occurrence'…

And Kudos! to your parents for this really tough choice to end the pain…

I'm so glad, that you still have the chance to do whatever you think could be better
or 'more' for your doggy, though I consider you very loving and sensitive, but we're all
human beings and still evolving to 'who we really are' and tirelessly harmonizing and adjusting
our emotions, thoughts, attitudes, conditionings etc etc, that's why we're here actually, and I'd
like to extend your advice by applying it to 'all life' surrounding us in every moment …

As stated in the closing of the letter…

Thanks for sharing this with us, CJ…
Right now rejoicing with Daisy and sending you LOVE LOVE LOVE…

Right now just read something interesting, that doesn't worry me too much,
but I'm amazed what those webservices are trying and doing while we surf... Smile

That's what I just read (partially):

"If you belong to ANY Yahoo Groups - be aware that Yahoo is now using
"Web Beacons" to track every Yahoo Group user. It's similar to
cookies, but allows Yahoo to record every website and every group you
visit, even when you're not connected to Yahoo. Look at their updated
privacy statement at http://info.yahoo.com/privacy/us/yahoo/details.html"

So, I went to this site and more than half way down there's an underlined
colored "web beacons"... click this one and then click on "opt-out" on that
page... next page tells you, that you're opted in... click it and you're
opted out... Hmmm... I wonder, I wonder...

Ok, that's not all... of course Yahoo isn't the only one lol...
Go to the following page and do the same with two clicks for the rest
-> http://networkadvertising.org/... click on "Consumer Opt-out"
and on the following page you just have to choose all and submit, then
you're opted out from those networks without loosing the ability to use
their services...

Oh, oh... and this applies to every browser and computer you're using
and not to the user... Haha, however, it's not the worst thing ever but a
bit strange... heh... Cool

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday... Very Happy

Right now, sorry to hear that Cuz.

Right now, I just got back from the comic shop where I found some old issues of The Sandman Presents for half price.

Right now, Neil Gaiman asked everyone following him on Twitter to pass along this trailer for Coraline: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js7wxoqeVK0

Right now, back home.

So... I can indirectly tie my experience this weekend to Neil Gaiman. Friday night, I and friends went and saw Jonathan Coulton (the guy who wrote the end song for Portal, in case you've no idea who he is) in concert. Apparently, Coulton and Gaiman are friends/fans of each other, and at an October 2008 Jonathan Coulton concert, well... you'll just have to see.

Right now, reading Chogon's forum post, I wonder whether that last line is just a standard business thing or if Cyan really means it.

I would gladly believe it, but it sounds forced. Cyan's last game was Hex Isle and I am not even allowed to purchase it. Hopefully iMyst is coming soon...

Very interesting and very good... I wonder what caused them to deliver
such a statement right now... Actually they didn't convey such a firm and
resolute stance by now, neither energetically nor through public appearance
and conduct... Very Happy

Edit: I also looked for Hex Isle last week if it was already released to us
Internationals lol... then I ordered Crowthistle at least and can't wait to
see those ages in Uru... Smile

The products are leaving in a quick and orderly fashion - but please don't stand in the way, you might be trampled. This is not a fire drill.

(Sorry, but right now I felt an overpowering need to make a joke out of Chogon's misspelling of "exciting".)
