hm.. ok. In this case, the Wall music might not work so well as I thought, because it starts right up into an action pace and stays there pretty much through the whole 2:40. The action should build up a bit before we begin using it.

The current music isn't that bad, only if you know that it was so much better in the WIP, and the future watchers of the episode never saw that WIP scene. Although I would really love it if the episode gets re-released when Cyan gets the rights for Myst V back again. Wink

MJ and I spent several hours Saturday trying to come up with a better solution to the music for Episode 7. In the end, we decided to stick with the current music.

I fixed up a few more things in the video.

English - WMV done, rendering MOV
German - All done and uploaded
Italian - Review copy posted; waiting on response from Leonardo
French - Reviewed; rendering WMV, will render MOV after English
Dutch - Waiting on Eleri's translation file

The Episode is not released yet.

I'm putting up this example announcement for discussion - do you like it? Should I change it? Let me know.

Quote:

Caught between the DRC and a chasm
Prologue Documentary 7

The past and rediscovery of D'ni.
Zardoz finding Phil Henderson in Eder Kemo.
Phil avoiding confrontation with the DRC.
Brian organizing disgruntled explorers.
A Relto page appearing out of nothingness.
Douglas Sharper departing to take the Journey.
Victor Laxman seeking explorer interest in the Great Zero.

These histories we have told. More history we will tell.

Today, explorer support for the D'ni Restoration Council is strong, although the DRC itself has weakened. Many of the Gathered look to the DRC for guidance; the explorers feel helpless without direction from an authority. Ask yourselves if your choice is the right one. Look within yourselves, explorers; there you will find the answers. Whether you have forgotten... or if you have joined the Gathered since then... Learn from the past or be doomed to repeat its mistakes.

Today, The Great Tree takes you back to December 15, 2003, so that the events of this day are not lost to time. We humbly submit to you our latest Prologue Documentary: Kidnapped!

Available in high quality Windows and Macintosh formats, in five languages: Dutch, English, French, German, and Italian at http://www.thegreattree.com/media/ . Also available in a lightweight streaming format (English-only) from Cavern Communication Network's CavernCast: http://caverncast.libsyn.com/ .

I think this is a bit too... how should I put it ... a bit too harsh towards the DRC perhaps (because we know they have changed). The text suggests that the DRC can't be trusted because of the kidnapping scene, so we should only trust ourselves. But using this kidnapping scene as an argument for saying that we could perhaps better trust ourselves is a bit weak on my opinion. The kidnapping of Phil was completely wrong, but I wonder if that action is representative for the current DRC.
On the other hand, who to trust is also a subject that Phil and the Explorers are talking about in the movie, so in this light it might be a good idea to ask ourselves again who we can trust. And it would also show Explorers that we aren't fully dependent on the DRC, which is a important message to be delivered considering the hiatus.

So I'm somewhat divided about the matter ... But the message will certainly make people think about the events from the past and the present, which is good thing.

I think you understand the sort of reaction I want: To get people thinking about what we can do without the DRC. But I put the announcement up for discussion because I'm also uncertain about if I want to use this approach.

Ideas anyone?

Just sent you the Review of the Episode Very Happy

I like the approach you've used, it'll make the people ask themselves what we can do alone and that's a good thing to me.

Perhaps the saying "the end justifies the means" is in order here? If it gets people to think, then perhaps we shouldn't question the approach?

I like the reminder on what has been told by now. The rest is quite full of
repetitions and an unfavorable choice of punctuation, IMO… I believe, the
chosen approach is ok…

My suggestion…or something like that…

....
....
Today, explorer support for the D'ni Restoration Council is strong, despite
its current weakened/debilitated state/condition. Many of the Gathered
look to the DRC for guidance. They feel helpless without direction from
an authority. Ponder and look within yourselves, explorers(!). Find out/
Realize, if your choice is the right one. The truth/answer, at all times,
lies/shines right inside of you. Whether you have forgotten... or if you
have joined the Gathered since then... Learn from the past or be doomed
to repeat its mistakes.

This time, The Great Tree takes you back to December 15, 2003, so that
the events of this day are not lost to eternity. We humbly submit to you
our latest Prologue Documentary: Kidnapped!

or... Nowadays, explorer support... and Today, The Great Tree takes you...,
but two times "Today"... hmmm...

My two cents Very Happy

Jana and Erik,

I really like your ideas. I think I can put those together. I'll update again after I get to work.

PS: Erik, you should have received an e-mail about a review copy of Ep 7. Please get your review to me today! We still have a shot at releasing the episode tomorrow morning before I'm gone for a week.

How about this?

These histories we have told. More history we will tell.

Today, explorer support for the D'ni Restoration Council is strong despite the DRC's weakened state. Many of the Gathered seek guidance. They feel helpless without direction from an established authority. But look within yourselves, and ask if you are making the right choice. What might you sacrifice to accomplish your goal? Alone or together, decide. The truth is there, shining inside of you. Whether you have forgotten... or if you have joined the Gathered in this past year... Learn from the past, or be doomed to repeat its mistakes.

Now, The Great Tree takes you back to December 15, 2003, so that the events of this day are not lost to eternity. We humbly submit to you our latest Prologue Documentary: Kidnapped!
