No heek table, no water in the fountain, no lights working in the light garden, no telescope to look at the city with and all the barriers back up and the only sound is your running feet across the marble Sad

Before I joined the Great Tree, that's exactly what my Hood looked like all the time in Live. And, yes, it is slightly depressing. Hey, what are you doing there? Did you do the balcony jump? I've still never done that. Maybe I'll give it a whirl while I'm waiting for the ExPac.

Yep lol I did the balcony jump, took a few attempts but I made it. Oh and you can get into the Egg Room as well without having to resort to falling through it or the unmentiable that others have done. The door just opens as normal Very Happy

What do you mean, Tehl? Rest of the content as in Expansion Pack?

I've only seen what is already in our files.

Eddie - the beachball
water in the fountain
the d'ni clock
the lights on the back stairs
the party lights
the new year's banner and fireworks
pumpkins and wreaths for autumn
firemarbles of various colors
a full bookroom (Nexus, Gahreesen, Teledahn, and one of the Edar books)

... just to name the ones I can most easily remember.

I decided to try one of the Uru hacks like Tehl Nava described. It allows you access to the city, probably like it was when it was still in beta. There are Teledahn linking books all over the place, not sure why. One new book I found wouldn't link, it just caused the Avatar to freeze. I'm sure it was either designed for Live, or just didn't have the rest of the content on the CD. One Bahro stone I found took me to the top of the Kadish pyramid. It was a nice view, but you couldn't do much from up there Smile

As part of the hack process, you get to view the inside of the Museum and Library. It makes me sad to think we were so close, but now so far away. At least March seems that way, and I'm not sure how much access or content we are going to be allowed.

Although the Neighborhood is improved with all the goodies that Tehl described, there are a few problems. After doing the hack, I have no access to the Classroom, Egg Room, or anywhere else that requires the Avatar to push the door button. But it was fun pushing the Beach Ball all over the place Smile

It's lonely in the city without anyone else there. D'ni was meant to be explored with others. I just don't know how Cyan can give us that feeling again in single player expansion packs.

But I did not describe the method. I merely show the end result. I recommend that you do the same. (hint, hint)

Well, if Cyan includes a multiplayer option for IP & LAN, we will be able to explore together in smaller groups (2 to 36). If they don't, then we need to find a programmer who can create a Multiplayer Add-on that will allow us to host URU via IP & LAN.

Actually, we already have an ability similar to that. We need to redirect the traffic to a server of our choosing. Well, that and find a way to setup the server properly. The server is our weak point.

In a eMail I sent to Cyan, I suggested multiplayer capability in a future release. Whether or not it happens is another story Smile

Hopefully someday Live can be revived. Maybe when broadband is available to more people at a reasonable price, at least closer to the price most people are paying for dialup. Some of the DSL prices are approaching that range now. And Cyan will definitely have to tune up the code to accomodate MMOG. With the lag everyone was experiencing in the city, it was just not ready.

I still dream of the day when D'ni will again be full of the sights and sounds of other explorers. I even miss seeing what the DRC is up to Smile
