I wonder if the eye related to the Relyimah, the unseen who were the spies for the Kings? Here is a quote from the Demath notebook that caught my interest.

Quote:
As one writer said, There were stories of dark shadows and mysterious creatures for those carrying out such activities it was said that the eyes of Demath saw everything while his arms took anyone he wanted.

Also, those symbols we put into the imager in the Cleft are really interesting. Several of those look like eyes to me. I wonder if those are symbols used by the Relyimah.

Thanks for the link Maharet Smile

Just finished reading the Book of D'ni, I did read somewhere that the writer took some poetic license and that Cyan never really got the chance to check it over as they were working on other stuff at the time. Can't remember where I read that now, think it was an interview with RAWA.

Anyway the last hundred pages or so in the book talk about the Relyimah, the slaves of the proud on Terahanee. Ashen white skin, shaved heads. Whipped and beaten into submission on Training Ages where they were trained to be slaves, to be the unseen from the age of five. Sometimes killed for sport. Two groups of people left Garternay, the homeworld of the D'ni, one went with Ri'neref to the Cavern and the rest went to Terahanee. The book is mainly about Atrus and Catherine looking for any D'ni survivors after the fall of D'ni and discover the link to Terahanee, an opulent Age of marble palaces and abundant food that hides the dark secret of the Relymiah. And even Yeesha gets a little mention Smile Worth reading I think.

One interesting thing to note about Eder Kemo and the Bahro is that according to information found by the DRC, Eder Kemo was written in the 8100's DE, yet the Relyimah (and the mysterious creatures) were mentioned in the time of King Demath who took the throne in 4692 DE, thousands of years earlier. If the Relyimah employed the Bahro in the time of Demath, then the Bahro weren't native to Kemo.

The DRC site page on Eder Kemo.
http://www.drcsite.org/ages/ederkemo.shtml

King Shomat took the throne circa 300 DE. So, the garden mentioned in Shomat's Story couldn't have been Eder Kemo. Some people have conjectured that the Bahro were the creatures mentioned in the garden written for Shomat. Though we have no proof of that, the time frame makes it possible.

The people mover in Riven was called a mag-lev.

That troubling picture in Kemo to the right of the Journey Door might represent the D'ni rulers.

The largest figure in that painting could represent a D'ni King, or maybe it represents Yahvo. If Kemo was indeed written in the 8100's, then it was past the time of Kings. The arms of the largest figure are extended as if to show rulership over, or protection over, the smaller figures.

The figure to the right of the largest figure looks like a depiction of a Great Lord (only one symbol on chest), and to the left of the largest figure, a lesser Guild Master of some kind with four symbols.

The floating statue in Kemo could represent a Great Lord. Doesn't it have one round symbol on its chest? I'll have to check that again.

The major guilds wore cloaks that were decorated with their guild symbols and the number of symbols specified the rank and status of the wearer. A young guildsman without rank wore eight symbols, placed four to each side beneath the lapels. The Five Great Lords had only one symbol. (BoT 50)

I found another picture that hasn't been posted on this topic. I think it's just a couple fish, but why would there be fish drawn on the wall to the left of the journey door?

Cool Jahren

Yeah it looks like fish to me as well, like the ones in the pool in Eder Gira.

Not like the ones from Gira. Take a closer look.

The upper ray has a person riding it, and steering with reins.

They do look like different fish, the ones in the pictures and the ones in the pond. Or maybe they are the same kind but at different stages of life.

If Kemo was named for a fish, was it named for the ones in the pond, or the ones that look like they get large enough to ride?

So when do I get to ride one?
