Updated. Yes, Mystlander, there be a committee-run rehearsal and then a GT rehearsal. No schedule has been set for either at this point.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Rand Miller has once again graciously agreed to be our Grand Marshal and GreyDragon has agreed to be the Aide to the GM.....Some Cyanists will be attending but at this point I'm not sure who they will be. I would have liked to have the DRC march as a unit but unfortunately Cate won't give them time off and insists they continue working on restoration.

Because this years St. Pat's Parade is being held in Live, it's also an occasion to celebrate the union between Cyan and GameTap, who's collaboration made it all possible. So this year, I would like to have two Grand Marshals and have emailed Blake Lewin asking him to be a co-GM along with Rand. I await his reply and will let everyone know when I know.

One other important correction....The parade will be held at 1pm EDT not EST.....I overlooked the fact that Daylight time will begin in the US and Canada on March 11th....please take note...Sorry for the oversight.

So come on everyone...Get out the green and get ready for the greatest event ever.....

SG

EDIT: I've received a reply from Blake Lewin and unfortunately he will not be able to attend. So our Grand Marshal will be Rand only.....

3rd Annual D’ni St. Patrick’s Parade and Party
March 17th at 1pm EDT on MystOnline/UruLive

ONLY 12 DAYS LEFT

A parade committee meeting was held this past weekend, which was very productive. The items discussed are as follows:
· Sign-Up Sheet
· Spectators
· D’ni Guard Unit
· Music and Sound
· Video and Photography
· Dress Rehearsal
· Host Hoods made private during March
· Party Hosts and hoods

1. SIGN-UP SHEET: It’s only 12 days before the event and anyone wishing to participate is asked to please sign-up this week. If your hood wishes to participate, someone from that hood will need to coordinate march practice and find out who from your hood would like to march and who would like to be a spectator. You’ll also need to decide which host hoods you’d like to march in and let us and the Host Hood know. Hood coordinators are asked to contact AdamJohnso on the UO forum with your UserName, Password and KI number. Adam will activate the account for you and once you’ve signed- up you can add those people who will be marching with your hood. Once Adam has activated your account you can sign up here: http://stpats.hoikas.com/admin/ Click on Home Unit Manager, type in your UserName….Password and KI number and then add the marchers who will be marching with your hood.

2. SPECTATORS: Spectators will also need to sign-up because we’ll need to know how many people will be viewing the march and in which Host Hood. Spectators will be limited so not to overcrowd the hood and hinder those marching with lag. It’s important that you sign up this week so we can get a number before Dress Rehearsal next Saturday. There will be designated areas in each Host Hood for spectators so not to interfere with the parade route and cause lag to the marchers.

3. D’ni GUARD UNIT: MystOnline/UruLive is a new beginning, so this year we will be creating a new D’ni Guard Unit…TS_Kimball and J’mee will be heading up the new unit and are presently seeking recruits for the unit. Anyone interested in becoming a member of this elite Guard is asked to contact TSK or J’mee on the UO forum. We need 12 guardsmen for the parade and they will be responsible for escorting Rand and party during the parade. The plan is to have 2 guardsmen assigned to each of the six Host Hoods. At the conclusion of the march through each Host Hood the 2 guardsmen will link to the Parade Hood, which will be the finish line and help get people in place before Rand come in. Several names for the new Guard were suggested during the meeting such as: D’ni Color Guard….The Cavern Guard….The Guard…..D’ni Special Guard and others. I happen to like D’ni Color Guard but we will leave it up the Guard to decide on a name as well as their uniform. So if you’re interested in being a member of this elite unit, please contact the TSK or J’mee NOW as time is running out.
4. MUSIC and SOUND: Unfortunately Lord Chaos who’ll be supplying all music and sound for the event was unable to attend the meeting but there’s a chatlog available for him. It was initially planned to use both TeamSpeak and ShoutCast for the event but it was decided by an overwhelming vote at the meeting to use only TeamSpeak. The reason being that ShoutCast has a limit of how many people can sign into it and it’s necessary for everyone to hear the music during the march. It was also felt that without two computers it would be very confusing for coordinators to jump back and forth from TS to SC. Each Host Hood along with the Guard will set up special channels for communication with those marching in the hood. I will be coordinating from the main chat channel with the Host Hood coordinators. I’ll need to meet with LC and iron out some of the details involved. If you don’t have TeamSpeak you can find it here: www.goteamspeak.com
We have not yet determined what server will be used and will inform everyone as soon as we know.

5. VIDEO and PHOTOGRAPHY: To date only Vortmax and joclyn have volunteered to take pics and video during the event. It would be ideal to have at least one in each Host Hood for photography and we could use at least 4 more volunteers. Anyone interested……please contact me as soon as possible. As we all know Uru is more than just a game of Puzzles, Exploring and the Restoration by the DRC. It’s also about Community and the events and history in the community. Archiving the history through photography is an important service of those volunteers who take the time to take the pictures. So please if you are interested, come out and help.

6. DRESS REHEARSAL: In an effort to determine the amount of time it will take to march through all 6 Host hoods and end up at the finish line in the Parade Hood, the committee has decided to have a Dress Rehearsal next Saturday March 10th at 11am EST. We are asking all Host Hoods to try to be present and ready to march so we can get an approximate idea of how long the parade will take. We are also asking for as many spectators to be present as possible. Each hood should set up a proxy Rand and Greydragon so we can add the time it takes for them to link in. We also need to test if all hoods are listed on the nexus. Apparently there’s a limit of only 50 hoods on the nexus list and it could be problematic if the 6 Host Hoods and the Parade Hood disappear from the nexus. A hood member may need to toggle the hood status on the nexus. We will use TeamSpeak for the Rehearsal and each Host Hood is asked to let us know how long it took to complete the march through their particular hood.

7. HOODS MADE PRIVATE DURING MARCH: To decrease linkin freeze and lag during the march, each Host Hood is asked to have a volunteer at the nexus to make the hood private after Rand links in. The volunteer should be given enough time to link back to the hood before the march begins. Once the march through that hood is concluded the hood will be made public once again. Host Hood coordinators will send Rand and party invites to their hood, in the event that they crash. All others including marchers who crash are asked to please not link back in if they are hood members and anyone who crashes are asked to go to the Parade hood. I’m sure everyone can understand what the linkin freeze will do to those marching so please be on your honor.

8. PARTY HOSTS AND HOODS: Mari has volunteered to host the Parade Hood with will be used as the main Reception and Party hood. She has also volunteered to cater the entire event and will be posting her menu shortly. I got a look at it and it looks yummy…All are welcomed to come and enjoy. All hoods are encouraged to party in their own hood if they wish, and hood hopping it also encouraged.

SO COME ONE….COME ALL….GET OUT THE GREEN AND GET READY TO CELEBRATE AND HAVE SOME FUN…..

Who is our 'hood co-ordinator for this event? Please let me know Smile

If I read SuperGram's latest posting correctly, it is the 'hood co-ordinator's responsibility to sign up all marchers and spectators.

Please sign me up as a spectator and note that I will film for the GT 'hood.

Spectators!!

It is time to get out the Green and watch this amazing parade

All spectators must sign up for the hood they will be watching in at http://stpats.hoikas.com/spectator.php Just click on the hood you want to sign up to view from and sign up!

"Seating" is limited so sign up early. It is recommended you view the parade either by sitting in the Auditorium, in the Light Garden or the Bridge leading from the fountain.

Registration is required as the coordinators for your hood need to make sure you are present before they close the hood for the parade. Arrive early and find your seat.

ANNOUNCEMENT!

Mystlander will be taking over as point person on this shindig as far as The Great Tree goes. Yay, Mystlander! If you have any questions regarding this event, please ask her. She won't have all the answers just yet but I'm sure she'll get one for you.

Mystlander, I'll send you via PM SuperGram's most recent PM to me. I'll also let her know you're taking over and that she should contact you. And of course, if you have any questions of me, feel free to ask.

The menu for the St. Pat’s parade is an authentic Irish fare.
We are doing a “round robin” or
Progressive Dinner

As I get the menus created for each hood, I will post them for your enjoyment

Hors D’oeuvres in NULP Hood
Irish Rarebit served on wheaten bread points and grilled
Salmon & clotted cream on Boxty (potato pancakes)
Dublin Bay Prawns with Cocktail Sauce
Small Meat Pies with horseradish dipping sauce
Spiced Soda Bread
Ginger Beer (kind of like Root Beer)
Irish Whisky
Black Velvet (½ champaign, ½ Guinness)

All food will be prepared and delivered ahead of time and ready to set out after the parade. A keg of Guinness and Ginger Beer and a case of Bailey’s Irish Cream and Irish Whisky is scheduled to be delivered to each hood, if you feel you will need more, please let me know early enough to get it ordered.

Please feel free to visit all of the hoods and enjoy a complete Irish meal. Non alcoholic beverages will be supplied in each hood. Ginger Beer is a Root Beer type drink and will be available in all hoods. I have tried to come up with an enjoyable selection to choose from, eat hearty. I do not like left overs and will not be crating this food back up to store so you will have to eat it all.

If I can link in from my Grandmother's place (My late Grampa used to say of her "She's as Irish as Patty O'Shaunessy's pig!"... she didn't care for that too much...), Most of that tasty fare will be there.

No imaginin' here... nuthin like a Guinness to warm you up on a cold Cavern March...
