I've seen both episode one and two and they are wonderful! I have a folder in my Uru folder just for this story. Very Happy I didn't realize how important Zardoz was to the Henderson situation -- learning about it puts a whole new spin on the DRC history for me.

Can't wait to see more! /applause

The Douglas Sharper Restoration Council, or DSRC for short, consisting of 1 person, would like you to bear witness on this preliminary test of restoring Douglas Sharper to his Prologue appearance.

Not perfect (I can and will do better - the stairs are intentionally misaligned in this version) but I thought I'd show the change.

Here is the full scene of Douglas Sharper's conversation with explorers in Episode 1, with a reworked Douglas Sharper. I will do a little more touch-up here and there to fix the remaining glitches, and I'll digitally remove Sharper's Relto book again. But this cut should give you a feel for what the final copy will look like.

I know where the images were stitched together so in places this looks horrible to me. I'm curious to see if the detail-oriented members can spot the problems. As a freebee, I'll point out the worst one - at 00:34 the person in the green shirt gets a severed arm. Whoops.

Anything you can find I'll try to fix. If I know of a glitch and you don't find it... I may fix it or leave it depending on difficulty. Sound fair?

commenting as I watch...

00:40 - Shorts near Sharper's hand seem to pop at the knee.. is this a glitch? Might not be, but I noticed it..

01:18 - Sharper's head's got some crazy aura against the lake.

03:04 - strange and mildly alarming electrical issue going on at the Guild Hall behind Sharper.

03:36 - same electrical flickering - doesn't look like part of your editing, but it's still weird.

That's all I noticed! (oh, and the arm cutting off)

Your proposal seems most fair. Thanks for the hard work. This is coming together nicely.

I would have a look but apparently my Quicktime has decided it needs some extra downloaded stuff and it can't find it on the main QT server. Confused

Good comments. "I'll see what I can do."

The flickering up above Sharper's head is caused by arc welding lights during restoration. I debated positioning the camera to obscure them with Douglas' head but decided against it. I'm not certain under what conditions these lights were visible during Prologue, or if they're visible now. If folks are certain that flickering wasn't present at the time, I can probably fix it with minimal trouble.

I kind of thought that's what they must be, but I couldn't remember ever seeing them before. I think we could go either way, taking them out or leaving them in, but maybe if we leave them in we should make them a bit more intermittent, like a real arc welding effect? Don't know if that would help get the effect across better.

This is just a camera angle thing (that really is his leg, as he shifts his weight) but I can reduce it, if it is distracting.

Sharper's aura should be AWESOME, not CRAZY. The strange appearance was a result of masking the original hat; I was masking it with the lake as it appears in Complete Chronicles, which is more detailed than it was in Until Uru. I cleverly mirrored the Until Uru lake from the right side and placed it behind Sharper's head, and trimmed my masking, and now it looks much better.

Leaving these as-is for now.

Fixed.

Also fixed: A rogue bit of Sharper's thumb over Rils' pants in one frame.

Now I just need to hunt down and eradicate obvious appearances of his Relto book. That's for another night.

I was watching this episode again, and I think I finally understand now what Phil meant with "I feel funny. The DRC used to keep a book here".

Did he refer to the Bevin book that used to be in Kemo instead of the Gira book? If so, that also explains why he feels weird, because linking to Bevin is a fast way to D'ni and there would be no need to link through an unknown book (Phil hadn't been to Relto yet).

Is that correct?

Re: Erik's previous comments of 6 months ago, I think that is correct.

Very Happy

With respect to Robyn Miller's wishes, I've uploaded new versions of Episode 1 with the music used during the ending credits changed to a selection from Tim Larkin's work. I also adjusted a few transitions between scenes (nothing anyone is likely to notice, just giving full disclosure).
