The Sam & Max coming to GameTap is an all new episodic series of games. ("An episodic, psychopathic lagomorph! The mind boggles!") It is not the original "Hit the Road", produced by LucasArts. Obviously, the original game would be a hot property for GameTap to add, but no news on that front.

Hope that clears things up!

Oh yeah Osmo! I've never played. It's the only Cyan game (other than realMyst, and the original Manhole and Spelunx, but those are more variations on a theme...)

Marten> Interesting, I hadn't heard that's what they were doing. hmm, well, it's still pretty cool!

Cyc> Actually, I'd like to see Manhole again. It came as a demo cd when my family bought our very first PC, back when I was a kid, and cd-roms were brand new technology. I dinked around with it, but it never really grabbed my attention. My dad loved it though, and when Myst came out he bought it based on the "From the makers of The Manhole" advertisement. By then I was old enough to appreciate a Cyan game, and the rest is history. Been hooked ever since. But since I wouldn't be here without Manhole, and I really have no memory of it, I'd like to try it again and see where my particular journey started.

CJ> The original Maniac Mansion was fairly primitive graphics as I recall, though I only ever played part of it. MM2 - Day of the Tentacle, was very cartoonish, and had three characters in three different "times" (past, present, future) that you had to coordinate to get everyone home again and stop the tentacle. It's awesome - the only game I ever played where you have to microwave a hamster to solve a puzzle. Maybe Cyan could still learn a thing or two... Wink

If I recall correctly, the entire game of Maniac Mansion is hidden within Day of the Tentacle.

Well... the old memory ain't what it used to be.

I played Maniac Mansion... I found some screenshots and recognized it immediately. It was MM2(DotT) that I never got to play.

All this talk of old classic games got me all flustered, so pardon my frenzied confusion.

I'm GameTapping my way thru the King's Quest and Space Quest now... wel not RIGHT now... I'm at work.... but tonight at home... BOOYAH!

Yer correct. There's a spot in DotT where yer underground. If you climb up a certain tree root, MM1 starts automatically as an easter egg. That's the only place I've played it, and I didn't get far. It kept crashing my game, it was pretty irritating.

I've heard so much about the Kings Quest and Space quest games, though I've never tried them. Gametap would probly be worth it just for those...

Actually, I recommend the free remakes of KQ1 and the "remix" of KQ2, available from www.agdinteractive.com Smile Mentioned them to Trent at Mysterium, but he said there was more complicated licensing with Vivendi to get those on GameTap.

Heh in the version I played you just needed to: "USE" + "Eddy's Computer" (thats the crazy stamp collecting guy with the hamster if I remember correctly).

Heh all this talk of DOTT is bringing it all back! I played DOTT and Myst with my friend Peter at his house cause he had (OH MY GOSH!) a Win 95 PC!!! We struggled our way through both those games and kept ourselves a healthy collection of "Norns" in the game "Creatures". Ah those were the days... the days before FORMS and DEBT!

Okay, peeps... I broke down and signed up for GameTap. I'm pretty excited to be able to play a lot of classics without hooking up my NES or Genesis, that's for sure! Very Happy

BTW, my username should be obvious: Saxy (I'm surprised it wasn't taken!)
